About EstadoNieve

What it is

EstadoNieve gathers on a single page, for every ski resort, what you need to know before going up: the snow report (depth, open runs and lifts), live webcams, the state of the access roads, the weather forecast by altitude, official warnings and, when there is no snow, what you can do in the mountains. It covers more than 870 resorts in 26 countries, in nine languages.

How it works

• Everything is automatic. A program reads every few minutes the official sources of each resort or its association (ATUDEM in Spain, FGC in Catalonia, OnTheSnow for the rest of the world), the traffic authorities (DGT and Servei Català de Trànsit), the weather (Open-Meteo, ICON) and the Meteoalarm/AEMET warnings.
• Nothing is invented or rounded. Every figure carries the time it was read and who publishes it. If a source does not publish a figure, a dash is shown, not a zero.
• If a report stays frozen for weeks, the page says so: it is the sign of a closed resort with an outdated website.
• Summer trails and activities come from OpenStreetMap; tracks and elevation gains are computed with the Copernicus terrain model.

Who makes it

It is an independent project, unrelated to any resort, association or public body. It does not sell lift passes or accommodation. The sources for each figure are detailed on the sources and attributions page.
